Raising money for the Tiny Lives Trust

Picture
We started raising money for the Tiny Lives Trust to say a huge thank you to the doctors and nurses at the RVI for taking care of my youngest son, Joseph, when he was born in April 2010. The only sign that Joseph was in grave danger was a reduction in his movements at 35 weeks, which is why we are also like to raise awareness of Count the Kicks. Since our first sale, we have been joined by many other volunteers, many with their own personal connections to Tiny Lives.

Since we began in the summer of 2010, we have raised £87,800 for the Tiny Lives Trust to support their work with premature and ill newborn babies from all over the North of England (including £2,468 raised by our commemorative quilt). Centered around the special care baby unit at the RVI in Newcastle, the Tiny Lives Trust supports the Newcastle Neonatal Service (Registered Charity 1150178). You can find out more about their work here.We raise money by selling new and lightly used baby and toddler clothes, toys and equipment. A lot of our stock has been donated by local families and we also provide an outlet for people wanting to sell their surplus baby/toddler gear. We do this (mainly) by hosting events four times per year in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne and our ebay store, which you can view here. Our events combine a baby and toddler nearly new sale with an exhibition of small local businesses who offer goods or services that appeal to families.

Our overheads are low thanks to some fantastic 'in kind' donations from local businesses and the much appreciated support of the Trinity Church Centre who provide a lovely modern venue for our events.
